The Simple Discipleship process includes four primary value dimensions based on the four color fields or quadrants surrounding the cross—Worship, Word, Ministry, and Missions. The words summarize four broad dimensions of the Christian life and may also be stated—Know Christ, Grow in Christ, Serve Christ, and Share Christ. Much, if not all, of the Bible may be categorized using these four broad value-based dimensions. With that in mind, I have provided the materials on this page that are consistent with the Bible and Simple Discipleship principles. Use them for your growth.
Matthew 2:16—18 (SD Dimension—Word)
King Herod stands across time as an anti-type to Jesus Christ. Herod is powerful while Jesus at that point was an infant. Herod had an army of soldiers armed with swords while Jesus had an army of believers armed with prayer and the Word of God in prophecy. The passage reminds us of how people become easily corrupted by their own ego and power and then hurt the very people they are supposed to serve and protect. This saga has been retold and recorded down through the history of mankind. The passage also establishes that baby Jesus is the Christ as the Scripture, Jeremiah 31:15 was fulfilled only in Jesus. Let us not forget that while Jesus Christ is the only one who could save us by his sacrifice, many others have paved the way of salvation with their very lives. We celebrate the birth of baby Jesus as the Christ, but we often forget the fact that many children lost their lives at the hands of Herod. What a sacrifice!
